Barbara Whiteford

(Owner)

Barbara began her professional career at Henri Bendel. Working in New York City as assistant to Head Colorist Constance Hartnett and under the direction of Jean Louis David, she had the opportunity to learn and practice Balyage, (an alternative to foil and cap highlights,) and become a L'Oreal professional colorist. Barbara joined the team at John Sahag Salon in 1986 and went through intensive training in foiling and color weave techniques. During these years she continued to build a loyal clientele.

With many of her clients living in the tristate area, Barbara opened The Color Salon in 1988 in Scarsdale, Westchester County offering all aspects of professional hair color. Today The Color Salon is still frequented by clients who started with her in NYC.

Over the past 20 years The Color Salon continues to grow and she and her staff of colorists and stylists provide a relaxing environment with clients leaving feeling "Naturally Beautiful".

Amy Ross

Amy Ross has been with The Color Salon since 1991 bringing a creative background from the Interior Design field that is a perfect complement to cutting hair. She began her training at the University of Arizona and finished at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York with a B.A. in Fine Art. After 6 years she left the design field to try her creative hand in the hair business, as there is an artistic connection to exact angles and measurements in both. She continued on to a Cosmetology program and then apprenticed in a salon in Manhattan for 18 months, where she fine tuned her cutting and styling skills with educators from the Paul Mitchell Academy and other disciplines. Continuing education in these areas and more has always been important to Amy. Most recently she has acquired certification in The Keratin Therapy Smoothing Treatment.

Amy truly believes that every client has beautiful hair. Finding a style that makes the client feel as beautiful at home, when she does her own hair, as she does when she leaves the chair in the Salon.

Neela

Neela began her career in 1995 at The New York International School in New York City where she obtained her cosmetology license. In 1998 she began working for Jason Croy Hair Salon in the West Village of Manhattan. Neela has understood from an early age that hair is not just an accessory, great hair is the key to feeling beautiful.! Mastering her skills in cutting, styling, updo’s and applying natural and synthetic hair extension’s has been and will continue to be her focus. Neela is truly passionate about her chosen career and continues to grow. She believes that honesty, patience, creativity and hard work all function together to produce a beautiful end result for her clients.
Joining the staff at The Color Salon in 2006 has given Neela a safe and encouraging place to be creative and adventurous in her art and she continues to build a strong and loyal clientele.
